Charity & Community

Charity of the year

We don’t just ‘do the right thing’ by our team and clients. Supporting charities and our local community is also at the top of our priority list.

Each year, we proudly select a local Charity of the Year, and for that charity we provide their HR support for the year*. We also help raise awareness of the charity and what they do.

Our Charity of the Year for 2026 is Lakelands Day Care Hospice.

We are delighted to be supporting the work of Lakelands Day Hospice. To understand more about what they do, visit their website

Lakelands Hospice provides palliative and end of life care, free of charge, for people in Corby and the surrounding villages living with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer, COPD and advanced heart failure. Corby has one of the highest rates of heart failure in England and has some areas that are among the county’s most socially deprived.

They do not receive any government or NHS funding, relying totally on charitable donations and fundraising events and need to raise in excess of £650,000 each year to keep their doors open.

HR Hub offer for Charities

Our commitment to supporting the charitable sector extends to making our expert HR resources accessible to charities. Through our special offer, charities can join the Gateway HR Hub for free for one month, then pay just £9.99 + VAT per month after (Saving over £420 a year).

The Hub is designed to save you time alongside giving you the reassurance that as all resources are written by expert, qualified HR Professionals – that what you are using is both compliant and effective.

With new resources added every week, monthly lunch and learn sessions and quarterly half day masterclasses – this is the only HR resource you will need.

Team Volunteering Roles

In addition to our Charity of the Year programme and HR Hub offer, our team is actively engaged in supporting the charitable sector in other ways.

Emma Wynne is a Trustee for North Northants Citizens Advice.

Jodie Young is a Trustee for Wicksteed Park Charitable Trust and also volunteers as a social media co-ordinator for Healing Hearts Together.

Dave Wynne volunteers with Northampton Saints Foundation with their incredibly important heritage work.

Volunteering Days: Every employee at Gateway HR is encouraged to spend one workday each quarter volunteering with a charity of their choice. This initiative helps our team connect with causes they care about while making a positive impact in our community.

This year, the team are taking on a 650-mile community challenge for Lakelands Hospice - our charity of the year for 2026.

Over the next 8 months, five members of the Gateway HR team (plus Daisy the dog 🐾) are walking a virtual route linking places important to our team, clients and supporters — including Corby, Market Harborough, Kettering, Milton Keynes, St Albans, London, Birmingham and Devon — before making it back home.
